i have a '98 chevy truck and am converting the dash illumination from the factory WHITE/ yellow to red.i have found red bulbs to replace the gauge illumination and the HVAC illumination.what i need is to convert the bulbs in the headlamp switch, and the 4x4,cargo lamp, air bag switches. i disassembled the 4x4 switch only to find out that it is 2 small light bulbs soldered into the circuit board and i cannot get to the back of them. i want to retain the dimming option in the switches so LED's won't work (i think?). my thought is to either paint the bulbs red with some kind of transparent paint or to use some form of a red cover on the bulbs.does anyone know where to get either of these?if you have any ideas that i have missed please let me know.

thankx

In the past I have used lighting gel, they use it in motion picture to change the color of light. It’s a transparent thin plastic sheet, if you cut it to the size of the gauges you can use white lights and they will shine through red. I have no idea where you can get it might want to check a camera supply or a place that sells theater equipment etc.

I use this to change the color of small lights. And it's what use to be put on head units back when the led's weren't so bright.
