What I am trying to hook up step lights to go on with the interior dome light when the doors are unlocked. I see that the dome lights are pos + all the time and neg - signal turns them on.
My questions are..... what wire do i hook them up to in the cab? and how do I hook them up ??? I think I would use a relay but I dont know how.
Thanks

The door switch grounds the dome light.
You could use that switch or use another switch or relay to GND the step lights.
If adding another switch/relay, you may have to use diodes to prevent the step light switch affecting alarms, or so the dome doesn't switch on the steps, etc.

The problem is that the lights on the running boards are LED, yellow for running lights and white for curiosty with only one ground? and two feeds. I want them to go on with the remote so when the doors are unlocked the white lights go on. So that is the delema.....the dome stays on with a timmer for about 2 min. I need to know how to tap in and where to tap in.
Thanks Guys...

hi,
does the domelight come on presently when unlocking the doors? if yes, you need a relay. connect the relay coil across the dome light wires (pink and yellow). the pink is fused battery power, the yellow is the switched. if you would like to be "accurate" with your wiring at your relay, connect as follows: terminal 85 would connect to the yellow, terminals 86 and 30 would connect to pink, and terminal 87 would be your output to the running board lights (this would be a positive voltage). the relay coil operates when ever the domelight is on, the contacts close giving power to the added lights.
hope this helps.

Thanks Mark.... that sounds like it will work..... Do you know besides at the dome lite where the yellow wire might be under the dash or kick panel?

under dash at the central timer module. take lower dash cover off, module should be at right edge of opening. couple of phillips head screws holding it in place. yellow at connector 2 pin 2. pink at junction connector underdash...same as pink at diagnostic connector.

Mark,
Sorry to be a pain in the a@@....
I just went out to the truck to take a quick look at Timer ....# 2 on the timer white plug is pink with a tracer looks like blue or black. It is hard to see. I dont see any yellow??
also where would be the junction conector be under the dash? the one that is over by the e-brake with a lot of wires in it?
