Hello, new to the forums and "ok" with wiring. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 2013 wrangler and want to hook up a 50 inch lift bar and a couple sets of cube lights. I want to wire them thru switches when the car is on the ign position or running but not constant. The switches I have are 20 amp air on board switches. They have three posts on the back. I get that. Also when the switch is in the "off" position there is a little led that lights up. When turned "on" position a different led lights up. That's why I want ign position. A couple questions,....
1. If I have a switch that is rated for 20 amps and let's say the cubes are rated less than that do I need a fuse and a relay? 2. how do I know what is an appropriate circuit to run these switches off of? My cig socket is switched or do I go to the ign harness? Do I need to get switches that DONT light up in the off position and wire them "constant" and let the switch do its job and just make sure I have the jeep running when I fire up the lights so my battery is charging? PLEASE help and thanks again

The purpose of a relay is so you can get power directly off the battery, but have it where it can only be on when the ignition is on. I do not think you want to connect anything that is going to pull 10 amps of current to any of the ignition or acc. controlled circuits in your vehicle.

You always need a fuse.

If you want them ignition switched you will need a large relay or a few relays that are triggered by an ignition hot circuit and control the power fed to the switches. If the lights draw less current than the switched are rated for you will not need relays between the switch and the light.

Can someone please draw up or explain how to properly wire the relay for high current off the wht/pink ign wire or even the ign key cig socket wire to run these switches please?!?!? Thanks. I kinda understand relays but still learning

Ignition power to 86. 85 to a toggle switch. Ground the other leg of the toggle switch. 30 to your battery via a fuse. 87 to the lights. Ground the lights to the chassis.
