Incandescent indicator light part of DPDT (or SPDT) switch stays on all the time.

Purpose of switch is to allow me to activate my Reverse Lights manually when car is off, or running in neutral, as this car has rear side back-up lamps (like front cornering lams) that I use sometime in my driveway with car running, so obviously it cannot be in gear.
•     Top post to ground (for indicator)
•     Wiring from Reverse switch on transmission (manual), green wire to 2nd post of switch,
•     Output to reverse lights from 3rd post, (goes to a relay I added but such should not effect switch function or cause this problem.)
•     12 volts hot from fuse to 4th post
•     Since rules say can’t post links, switch is a Carling Contura series DPDT lighted, that has 2 incandescent bulbs, 7 terminals on back
Ideally, I’d like the indicator light to be on only when switch is activated to manual on position. If someone could tell me how to wire this. Do I need a diode, if so, what type?

Help most appreciated, Thank you.

Ground the 7th terminal, apply 12 v to each of the other terminals 1 at a time. Tell us which terminal when powered illuminates a bulb.
