Good Morning,

I apologize if this post is out of context, I could not find a better fit for it.

I am replacing a light switch in a Hyster S40XL forklift. The light switch turns on the spot light in the front of the lift as well as the red light in the back.

The new switch I have is a pull-out type with two settings....you pull it out half way for one setting and pull it out fully for the second.

I've attached some photos of the old switch while it was still attached to the forklift and also the new switch. There are four wires total.

I could use some help in determining the proper wiring for the new switch.

Do you have a multimeter?

Set it to Ohms or 200 ohms if it is not an autorange meter.
Connect one lead to the screw to the right of your top picture.
Pull out half way and touch the other meter lead to each of the remaining terminals. It will read near 0 ohms to one of them.
Pull out all the way and do same with the meter.

It may provide power to only one terminal when pulled half way, and provide power to both when pulled all the way out.

Is there one light that would need to be on without the other?

They look like the same switch. Flip the new one around, connect the top wire to the top terminal, then connect the bottom wire to the bottom terminal. Now cut the input wire to length and attach it to the screw terminal connected to the fuse.

Yup! This one did it! Thank you for that. I was trying to attach to the two top terminals...but they needed to be offset. I have it working now....thank you!
