I am building a trailer and have put in some Marker Lights. I would like to add a relay to make all of the marker lights on one side of the trailer blink when I turn my blinker on.

I know I have to have a Relay to make this happen. After reading some posts I purchased a 5 pin relay. I have been working with different wiring combinations but I can't get it to work.

Does any one have any advice for me on how to configure it so these senerios work?
1. No marker lights on, If I turn on a blinker they all blink
2. If the Lights are on ... the Blinker will over ride the Marker lights and blink.
3. If no Lights are on .. No marker lights are on until Blinker is activated.

The Relay I purchased has these connectors on it.
87 and 87a
30
86
85

Thanks in advance for your help.

I think I figured it out. The only way I can make it work is with 3 Relays.

You would need the Lights on Lights off before the Two that you would put on both sides.

What do you think. Will this work?

This is exactly what I've been looking for to add side markers on the front fenders of my car. I made a better wiring diagram. I made different color lines so that it is obvious that they don't connect with each other. Different color lines are connected together when there is a red square connecting with all of the lines.

Here it is...

Hmmm... after looking at my earlier drawing, I figured out a way to do it with 4 relays instead of 5. I'll post a drawing tomorrow. Need to go to sleep now. New 4-relay circuit also needs no connection to Battery Positive, so would be perfect for a trailer.

Here's the drawing with four relays. Two for each turn signal. Note that if you use this on trailer side markers, that the side markers will also follow the brake pedal. In other words, when the parking lights are OFF, the side markers will turn ON when you step on the brake. When the parking lights are ON, the side markers will turn OFF when you step on the brake. So, if you do this, I recommend having some normally-wired side markers in addition to some that are connected to the relays.
