Hi everyone. I was just wondering if there is a very simple circuit that I can make in order to have fog/driving lights on my car and have a switch that allows me to turn them (with a 3 way switch on the dash) between low beam - off - high beam as needed. Is this possible? Can someone please help me out here.

Thank you very much

It would be very easy to do this.
Get a On-OFF-On switch and install a resistor on one leg of the power lead to the light.
You will need to get a resistor big enough to handle to power that the lights will be pulling and the resistor WILL get warm.

Good luck,
Tom

So if the lights are 12v 55w, what sort of resistor would I need?  Thank you

can you explain a little better as to what you mean by low beam off hi beam?

I want to have a 3-way switch on the dash so I can select the fog/driving lights to be either off, half brightness or full brightness.

So in the off position, the lights are off

In the low beam position, the light circuit is closed but with a resistor in series with the lights

In the hi beam position, the light circuit is closed but without a resistor.

Does anyone know what size resistor I will need or even if this will work? Thank you for your help.
