I'm trying to disable the Daytime Running Lights on my 1999 Chevy Tahoe 2DR. I found out that it's hardwired and there's no other remedy for it (someone told me to try hitting the dome override button 4x but that didn't work). I was wondering if anyone had a wiring diagram so I can snip the wire thats been causing me this paaain. Haha thanks. -mike

on the early body style there was a huge resistor under the dash beside the steering colum. It was easy to find, it had a two pin plug, unplug it and no lights. I haven't had that request on the new ones yet. it might be the same???

The DRL override trick doesn't work and that webpage is for 2000 style Chevy.... you have any idea about a 1999 Chevy?

On some newer GM models it may be possible to press the "Dome Override" button 3 or 4 times within 6 seconds. This will disable the DRLs while the vehicle is running. When it is restarted, the DRL function will reset to "always on." We've heard that this works on full-size and S-series trucks. I believe most recent GM, 99/00/01, use a VCR tape sized DRL module that will be under the dash, behind radio, glovebox, over pedals, etc. There are two 8 pin connectors, the smaller blue connector C2; A is GND, B is NC, (jump A to B to disable) or pin C (pink) is ignition power, if fused separately, just remove fuse or disconnect power wire. Here's a site with excellent directions and pictures. Failing to find the module, there is a headlamp relay (5 pins) located in the engine compartment or near the steering column, and if you bend over one of the coil pins, #85 or #86, or the normally open contact #87, that will disable the DRL. (#30 and #87a are needed) - 93-97 Blazer, Fuse located?? HI beams in series
- 94-97 S-10, Fuse panel, left end of dash
- 97 Chev Lumina, Monte Carlo #33, fuse in RH side of dash.
- 98 Cadillac, Fuse under hood
- 98 Sunfire, supposedly computer controlled "owner option" fuse?
- 99 Pont Grand Prix; has 16 pin DRL module, fuse removes DRLs and Auto-ON (there is also a fuse for air bags, SRS)
- 2000 Camaro, direction signal DRL module behind radio

One sneaky trick to try is to depress the emergency brake pedal 1 or 2 clicks,in most cases this will trick the DRL module into thinking that the e-brake is ingaged and cut off the DRL's,this is if you can stand for the e-brake dash light to be on all the time.  -------------

A couple of months ago I was doing an install in a 2000 Blazer for a local police department, and they wanted the DRL's disabled. After lots of screwing around and coming up with some weird results( too many computers in cars these days) I contacted chevy and they said the only way to do it without screwing things up is to depress the e-brake just a bit, as the Ststic Revenger said. So that's what I did. Later I got to thinking about it, and realized that any chevy dealer should be able to disable them by linking to the car's onbord system and taking that perameter out. We had a Ford dealer disable warning dings in a Crown Vic that way. Plus it won't screw up your warranty.

You should have under the hood an "Underhood Bussed Electrical Center". Within the UBEC you should find a fuse and/or a relay marked DRL. Pull the fuse.

just pull the fuse under the hood. it looks like a black fuse with white riting on it. its not a real fuse . just yank it
