I need some help. For my term project in an intro to electronics course I want to use my existing panic button on my OEM keyless entry remote to turn some underbody neons on for my 1999 Eclipse. The problem Im running across is not being able to find any wiring diagrams for how my panic button is wired. If looke at the diagrams here and my repair manual and nothing. Some help in this department would be much appreciated. I want to disconnect the flashing lights and horn from the relay this panic button goes to and instead make it turn on/off some neon lights. I hope to hear from several of my fellow 12V enthuasists. GERARDO

The problem is that the panic button isn't wired at all, that is when you push the button on the remote there is no wire that tells the car you pushed it, it runs through the car's computer. When you hit the panic button the car's computer sends out the pulses to the lights and to the horn.

Are you asking for yourself or for the class project?

Im asking for myself and for my class project, because I turned in my class proposal stating that this is what I intended to do to my car. Is there any way of making a remote? Or buying something enexpensive to do what I need it to do? Thank you for your time by the way

Well you could buy the cheapest keyless entry module that has an output and you could tie it into that. The reason that I asked about the class part is if you need to come up with something on your own to integrate it or if you could just buy another module to use. If you buy a keyless entry system it will be really easy, especially if all you hook up is the neon's to the module.

once again thank you... I might end up having to do just that. Is it pretty easy to wire a keyless entry?

you can do this with a device that periphrel electronics makes called a pulse timer but it dose much more. you wont be able to use the panic button but you could use lock or unlock. on this product there are many ways to program the inputs and outputs so you would be able to program one of the inputs to make a latched output when it gets say 3 pulses or however many you want to use and also cut off the same way. good luck.
