I have a question for velocity motors, which lights are better, the phillips H4 bulbs or the PIAA H4 HID bulbs, I heard PIAA's are better, and where can you get the phillip ones anyway, and for how much?

Are you speaking about real HID units which have a ballast, or those light bulbs that simulate the color of HID and go into the OEM sockets?

The ones that simulate the HID, more or leess the wannabees, because I know the real ones are about 6 to 800 dollars to buy, no thank you.  But just wondering about the ones that go into OEM sockets.

Thanks..

In that case you can go and buy the PIAA, Catz, or Polarg branded units.

They run aprox. $45-65.00 USD for a pair depending upon where you buy them from on the internet.

Just so you know there are actually two types of bulbs that will give you a brighter and whiter beam.

The first one is basicly a higher wattage (output) bulb replacement, which requires more current, and if the factory wiring is not large (gauge) enough. Will in time, melt through the OEM wiring harness causing a fire.

So please make sure your vehicle's harness is up to the task.

The other type of high output bulbs are the ones that use Xenon, or other similar gases to emmit a brighter beam. Almost all of the brands listed above make the different color(s) that is thrown out from the headlight by coloring the bulb, or the lens.

All of which reduce the overall brightness, but for the average person, they will not miss it. If you're in the market for them, purchase the PIAA branded one's as they are readily available, and the quality is one of the best with great customer service after the sale.

Thanks for the heads up Teken, I've actually taken the task of upgrading the wires on my car, also relayed the high and low beams cause I already went through one light switch for the obvious reasons.

Good to hear... Let me know what type of PIAA bulb you decide to purchase in the end.

BTW: The headlight harness in my vehicle will be redone as well this summer, for future upgrades. Good to see you did it already, you should have see some noticable difference in the overall brightness, and the lack of *dip* in voltage from the alternator because of the reduced resistance in the wire.
