While driving in a 03 BMW 330ci I noticed they have what BMW calls Ambiance Lighting. And all it was, was 2 amber LED's in the over head console that Shine down on the center console area. I thought it would be a pretty cool Idea to add something like this to my car (2000 Mustang GT convertible) after doing some searching I came across what seems like the only after market manufacturer that seems to have anything like it (www.gentex.com) they have it built into the mirror. Unfortunatly I only found one place to buy it at a rediculous $250.00
Now In my mustang my mirror has my map lights built into my mirror. I was wondering if anyone had done something like this and or has an idea on how to make it possible? These lights that were in the BMW were extreamly dim. just enough to light up the console.
Any help/suggestions are appreciated
Thanks Nick
rig a LED inside the console, and have have some resistor i believe, to dim it. have it on a push button switch- open console it lights up. Something like that.

I need quality equipment, feel free to donate.
i have a corvette that has the same thing. you could easily make your own though. go to radio shack and get a LED, LED holder, and a few different resistors (start some where around 600ohm). all you would have to do is drill a 1/4" hole some where in the bottom of the mirror or in the map light lense install the holder and led into that hole and wire it to the parking lights with the resistor in the + wire. you can play with different value resistors to get it how ever bright you want. everything should cost less than $5.
