hi, I have a 2004 Ford Ranger and need to add a 3rd brake light to the cap that I just installed. Any suggestions? Such as what wire to tap into. I do have the 4 wire flat plug under the rear bumper, but have know idea if I can use that as a source.
Thanks Harry

The '04 Ranger HAS a third brake light in it already, right? Tap that wire, and send it to the back if the truck, with associated qd's so you can remove the shelll, if desired. This will be your EASIEST route, AFAIAC...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

No way of geting to the third brake light without removing the cap, or the headliner.

Ther HAS to be a way to get to it... even if you tap it right at the brake pedal... otherwise, look in the kick panels or in the thresholds. The brake switch is JUST a ground make/break at the brake pedal. Even if you reversed the polarity with a relay, so you can ground the light in the back, rather than running two wires - a switched ground with a constant hot, this should not be that difficult an undertaking.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I went to Peps boys and got what is called a "Logic Circuit for Third Brake" cost about ten bucks. A few wires to hook up and it worked great.

thanks again Harry
