This isn't a mobile question but involves LEDs and soldering so here goes...

I've got a clock radio (Proton, now out of business) that the LED that lights the analog dial has burnt out. Actually it might not even be an LED but rather just a very tiny light bulb.

Description: two wire base, approx 10mm long, 4.2mm in diameter, clear bulb with a green plastic "condom" that slips over it ( I guess to filter the light?)... about the size of a single long grain of rice...

Does anyone have a source for these types of bulbs? I don't know the bulb wattage but it's 110vac radio.

Appreciate any ideas or help..The wife is getting a bit tired of the flashlight I'm using to tune the dial in the middle of the night...starting to call me the Night Stalker...

I'm not looking forward to the soldering since it'll be like micro-surgery but I'll cross that bridge once I find the replacement bulb...

Known as a 'grain of wheat' bulb.. you could try radio shack (the online catalog, don't bother trying to talk to the sales droids there) or some of the electronics suppliers like www.digikey.com or www.mouser.com

You could also try www.ledtronics.com. The plastic sleeve sounds like its used to change the color of the bulb.
