I'm going to install a Video System but i need to improve my theft deterrent led.
I want to install 2 additional LEDs in my car (Corolla 2000), I have an alarm installed and working but i want one extra led next to each door latch (same as audi & volkswagen have). Any idea where i can find them & what kind of led (red) do I have to use and how to connect them?. I bought blinking leds from autozone (12V) but when i connect it to the alarm existing led it woks but after a few blinking cycles the new led starts to blink in a diferent pattern. Thanks in advance for your help.
PD: somebody knows where i have to connect the black wire comming out from the alarm brain box?? I think is the antenna but is not connected to anything.
First off, the "antenna" does not get connected to anything. Try to get it as high up into the dash as possible for greater distance. Secondly, what brand of alarm? It may have a pulsing 12v for the LED, in which case you would just need a regular LED and them wire them in series. Or you could wire the two new ones off a relay to come on after the ignition is turned off. Please supply info about alarm make and model.

If led doesent have resistor, it is pulsing 12v.
Then wire regular leds PARALLEL with own resistors.
VALUES ARE IN 6V

Stupid me!
If led DOES have resistor... then alarm give 12v

I was thinking about doing the same thing. What about current drain on the battery? How long would two blinking 20mA LEDs take to drain enough current to prevent the car from starting in the cold?
