Hey guys,
I am working on a little project and could really use a bit of help in the planning phase of things. I am looking to make a WHITE LED Panel. I will be using 200 - 10MM 60,000MCD LEDs. In the end I hope to be able to plug it in to house hold wall socket.
I was thinking I would arrage the "panel" in five strips of 20 and wire each led in a strip in series.
These are the LED specs:
Reverse Voltage:5.0 V
DC Forward Voltage: Typical: 3.2 V Max: 3.6V
DC Forward Current:20mA
What kind of resistors would I need per led or per strip to handle the 120v input, also how would I go about converting DC, into house hold AC?
Any input would be great. thanks!
dude i don't know exactly, but i think you need a rectifier to convert the AC to DC try this site... www.bcae1.com

If it was me I'd use Electroluminescent sheet. Great stuff. Look it up on Yahoo.
You can get a couple amp converter for like $30-40. I got a 5A max one off a friend and it was $50 at our Radio Shack, but they're arses. They ran out of amps and bought some at Wal-Mart and jacked up the price. So you could more than likely get one for under $50. I've been using mine with my car phone adapter. Even hooked up a couple stereos for testing. For 200 LEDs, that would be more than enough power. The converter is about 4"x5"x7".

DC is Direct Current. AC is Alternating Current. Wouldn't work together directly. Haven't gotten into AC yet. This week we will, but I know you can't hook DC to AC just like that. You will need a power supply/power converter.
