Does anyone have a good source for buying a 12V
Dimmer switch for LED rope lighting? I have some
12V rope I'm putting in a bus and would like to
put it in a dimmer switch - a tough item to find...

Have you tried using a potentiometer?  You may be able to lower the voltage going to the LEDs and cause them to dim.  It depends on how the LEDs are configured inside the rope, though.

you'd need a pwm signal.

to blink the lights fast enough that they look dimmer

i agree with boyswidtoys, leds don't take to dimming very well, they need to flash rather fast at 3/4 potential to make them look dim, sux i know but its one of few downsides to leds
