Hello people....
How can I add 2 more LEDs into my alarm without them getting dimmer? I have tried them in series and only the 2 I added get dimmer, the one that came with the alarm stays bright. I've been searching on these forums, but nothing specific. I would like them to flash with the original alarm light, but if I have to, they can stay on. I am using 2 purple LEDs from pep boys (the ones that are pre-wired), and my alarm is a Nitro (crappy) alarm. I dont know how many volts the LED is putting out because I cant find the manual. I have seen people talking about relays, but a relay would wear the battery down quicker, wouldnt it?

anything you add will cause the charge to drop more quickily, how much will depend on your type of car and age of the battery. i would reccomend that you replace all of the aftermarket leds with leds from an alarm manufacturer, BECAUSE they are designed more for your application. i think this would reduce your line loss problem, but not eliminate it. also remember that a police officer in a bad mood may write you an expensive little piece of paper for that, but it is cool.

that will not solve the amperage problem... series would divide the voltage...

it is illegal to have led lights hooked up to your alarm? In which state? I have never heard of this (I am in California). Can you please elaborate? -------------

What you can do is wire in a relay triggered by your (-) out when armed ( if you have this wire ).Wire the relay like this and this will solve any problem of amperage draw on the actual LED. ------------- Jeff

you could use a relay off the ground when armed output, but then the leds would stay on the whole time.. if you wanted them to blink you'd have to buy blinking leds. on the other hand, in my own personal cars i have always used multiple leds and simply wired them in series with the original one. in my crx for example, i had leds in both front corner lenses, one in the dash, and one in both of the reverse light sockets.. five leds in total, all wired in series.. worked like a champ for years until i sold the car
