I am installing a alarm in my truck and I don't like the LED the alarm came with it is large and looks goofy. I want to change it out for a different LED, the one I like is a 3.7 volt.  The output on my alarm is 2.0 volt .  I know if you put to much voltage to a LED it will burn out.  What I want to know is does this work the other way too.  If there is not enogh voltage will the LED power on or be Dim. any help apriciated.

leds can be very finiky.  i would reccomend that you get an led as close to the output voltage as you can, you will know right away if it isnt going to work. its just an led, hell just try it man!
