I installed a Dual CD player in a guy's Dodge Dakota last weekend and now he has no dash lights or running lights.    I'm not sure of the year but it's the older, box-shaped body, maybe early 90's. The wire harness was already cut for an old Pioneer tape player that I was switching out. I identified and connected all the wires I needed and had two left over- an orange (illumination) and a pink (I still can't figure out what it was for). The Dual is very basic (power, constant, ground, speakers) with no illumination input. I capped off the two leftover wires behind the dash and all the fuses are good. I'm going over there today to try to fix it. It must be something in the radio wire harness since everything worked fine before I installed the CD player. I've looked at the wire diagrams here, but nothing helped. What is that pink wire and what else can I check? Do I need to do anything with the orange or pink wires?

My guess is that you had/have the illumination wire for the factory radio display lighting grounded. Check your fuses.
