i have 5mm led on a quad. I never got them wet never even took quad out. 20 off of my batery. i have them all directly to negative and a wire to positive going to a rocker then branching out. I fliped them on and i saw smoke. I looked and it burned the caseing right off the wire ad the 16 guage wire was fried any info on why something like this would happen and hot to prevent it.

You cannot wire an LED directly to the battery, a current limiting resistor is needed.

they are built in the led only the negs were wired the positive is the 1 that fried.
