Hi!

I've had this idea of installing sort of courtesy lights in the outer door handles. I want them to come on by unlocking the car and go off by opening the door/locking the car. I figure that impulse for "on" would come from alarm's "open" impulse to central lock, and "off" from "close" impulse and/or from the door pin. Connecting the relays in the middle is what has got me confused. All trigger impulses will be negative/ground. Can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks for any replies!

I see your from another country so lets see if we can common ground our terms. Because I don't really understand but from what I can understand your not far from the right track. Use a relay and you cound connect it to almost anything depending on the effect you want. You could use parking lights, door locks. anything, Really what kind of alarm do you have?

If your alarm has a dome light feature, you could use that as well.

If it is already hookup up, changes are you can connect the door LED's right to the relay.

Take the open impulse from the alarm system and wire that to the coil of  a latching relay. I believe a diagram is provided on this site.  Use the normally open contacts of the latched relay to drive power to your leds.  Now wire a second relay coil to the door open signal.  Now wire one side of the normally closed relay  to +12v and the other to the supply side of latching relay coil.
