I was wondering whats the difference between a regular and a diffused led and what kind is best for automotive use ?

Diffused LEDs spread the light more than regular. What's best depends on the application

thanks I'm using them to light my HVAC control in my 99 sunfire and then I'm Going to make led tubes or Strips that mount under the dash and the rear deck to light the trunk an floor board and then some as center counsil and glove box lights also. so I'm going with diffused.

My flashlight uses a non-diffused bank of 5 led's.

non-diffused usually come with a light distribution angle.  ie.. 25degrees or.. 15 degrees.

diffused would light up like an incandesant bulb.  in all directions.
