Subject: Washer Lights, How to wire?

Hello,

I am in the process of installing new washer nozzles which have little led's in them.  What I would like to do is be able to use these lights in two ways.  The first being have them blink with the turn signals, the second steady on.  And of course off.  I would like to do this with the use of a 3-way switch and I believe one or two relays.  But I am not quite sure how to wire it.  Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

What kind of car ? Some vehicles have turning lights that are also marker lights. If you grab the (+) wire on this wire you can get the same result without the relays & switches.

They are being installed on a 98 Honda CR-V.  I was just going to tap into the turn signals at the fusebox.

Thanks,

John

you'll need 3 relays, hook your left singal up to one, right to another and the third to a constant from a switch.

Ok, thanks, but how should the relay's be wired.  From what I understand there are many different ways to make them do many different things.

Thanks,

John

Well, first find the wire that goes 12vlts for left, 12vlts for right, and a 12vlt wire for parking lights or constant.

To Left Light                                         to right Light                                    to left and right lights

                 87                                                                87                                                        87

85             87a N/c         86  Ground       85         87a N/C  86 Ground             85    87a N/C  86 Ground

                  30                                                               30                                                         30

               to 12vlt constant   -------------------------------------------------------------------->

Hook up 85 to you wire that goes 12vlts when u turn your left singal on for the first relay, on the second do the same except to a wire that goes 12vlts when you turn right, and the the last one run 85 ethier to a switch that send out 12vlts when on or parking lights 12vlts

Ok, now how would this be wired to a 3 position switch so that in the first position they work with the turn signals, in the second they are awalys on, and in the third they are off.  Also the actual washer light positive, should be hooked to 87?

Thanks for all your help,

John

What you can do is is get a 3 way switch, so you you'll have 3 poles -

1           Always On                                 <------------------ run to 86 of the third relay

2           Off                                               <------------------run to ground

3          Turns on with turn singals <- ---------------- run to 86 of the first and 2nd relay

Now dont hook the dround up to 86 just the wires from the switch. And yes run 87 to the lights and then ground there where you chose.
