I have a 2000 Dodge Neon with the factory alarm led located in the gauge cluster.    With my windows tinted, the led can't be seen outside.  I want to add an aftermarket alarm led somewhere more noticeable to people outside.  How can I connect the new led to work with the factory alarm?

I wouldn't bother making it work with the old alarm, just get a flashing LED and hook it up so it flashes whenever the car is off.

If you are dead set on hooking it up to the OEM one you'll need to find the wiring to the LED and tap in to it.

How can I hook it up to come on once the car is off?  That sounds like it may be easier than figuring out the wiring.

Hook the +12 side to a constant 12vdc signal, hook the ground to the main ignition wire.  The main ignition wire will rest at ground when the car is off.  As long as the LED is a blinking 12vdc LED you'll be set.
