I installed a McCulloch 8000k HID kit on a 2006 Dodge Charger, It dosn't have daytime running lights, Lights burn fine while the car isn't running, when I crank the car and the voltage goes over 14v the lights start to flicker. While the car is off the lights burn fine and the voltage is at 12v. I look at the specs on the HID BUlbs Controller... it says

Voltage.....9-14v

output..... 35w +/-

temp......40c +150c

DC 12v

the installations instructions are here https://www.xenonpros.com/installation.html ... It is getting the power from the factory wiring harness, I tested the harness when i got the voltage

The only thing that I would suggest is to get a voltage regulator that keeps it at 12v

I can tell you from REAL experience...get 12v from the battery NOT the factory headlight connector. Use the factory harness to trigger a relay. Your problems will disappear.

This forum haven't had w/ a lot of HID lighting questions but I will address this: HID kits are NO GOOD, popular name or not.

1. sticking in HID kits (9006, H4, H7, H1, H3, etc...) in a regular housing w/o properly shielded will give out a lot of glare. The result of glare will blind incoming traffics.
2. HID kit do not last that long. Any where from 6mos to 3years, as I have testified and heard.

However, newer cars w/ halogen projectors are able to properly use the HID kit, because they're design to project to the ground only.

The best alternative is to utilize HID projectors from high-end cars such as BMW, Benz, Acura, etc... and retrofit them into your halogen housing.

Again, HID kits are NO GOOD. You will experience this and will testify this.
