Hi guys I was installing my HID's in my car, after doing the research here and trying everything I decided to put in the suggested rectifier diode and also a 2200uf capacitor. Did the passenger side and the problems I had of flickering/strobe is gone! did the drivers side and after it was on for a few seconds I heard a pop then smoke coming from the capacitor. Is there a certain way this has to be installed? thanks guys.

Its for a 2006 Chrysler 300 base model no Daylight lights. The problem I was having was I would turn the lights on (yes using a relay) but when I would press the gas or just out of the blue the lights would start to flicker....

Depending on the type of cap you used it may have had a polarity to it.  If you hooked up a polarized cap backwards they pop.  If polarized they typically have a (-) terminal marking on the body of the cap.
