I installed an Autometer oil pressure gauge in my 95 Toyota Camry. I want to wire the illumination light through the dimmer switch. The gauge light is two wire (blk, white), the dimmer is three wire (blk, wht/blk, green). The wht/blk dimmer wire goes to ground. I understand that the dimmer has in-power, in-ground, out-ground. I don't want to burn the dimmer but the easiest way for me is access dimmer wires to tap into. Can I just hook the bulb wires across the in-power, in-ground dimmer wires as the variable out-ground wire will vary brightness? Also dimmer wires are very small gauge while bulb wires look to be about 18 gauge, not sure if this means dimmer controls very small amperage? Will I burn dimmer by adding one extra bulb?

Worked it out. Green is power-in, Blk is ground-in, Wht/blk is ground-out. Attached the bulb Black wire to dimmer Blk and the bulb White wire to dimmer green. Works and does not seem to generate any more heat, if any.
