I have a 96 Nissan Maxima with the factory security system. Where can I easily find a (-) ground output when the doors are locked? Somewhere in the drivers side dash or center console area would be great.

Thank You

No one has any info this? I have the full Nissan Electrical service manual but I cannot figure out where this may occur. I need this grounded output so that I can hook up a VARAD scanner to indicate when the doors are locked.

You may need to use relays to change a pulse into a constant.

Once activated by the relay on the left, the relay's coil on the right will stay energized until either ground or 12v(+) is removed. You can do this with another relay. Or try connecting to a 12v(+) switched source instead of a constant one. Or you can have a door trigger activate a relay to break continuity. The variations are practically endless.

You can also set the scanner to go on when ignition is off.

So there isn't anything that would be grounded at rest? I would prefer to not use relays if I can help it. My truck is full of relays and everytime I have to work on my truck I have figure out what ten different relays do. IT would be cool if I could find a circuit that is ground at rest or grounded when the doors are locked. I used to run the scanner on my old car when the ignition was off, but I really want the scanner to tell me that the doors are locked when its active.

I would get inside the door at the latch assembly. (a place to start)

grab the ground for the LED from factory. that should be grounded when armed.

Interesting suggestion. I checked the factory Security LED. The LED receives a constant +12v and then receives a GROUND from the Body Control Module. The BCM switches that ground to provide blinking or solid or off depending on the state of the security system. So I guess you could convert the "pulse" Ground with some relays but I'd still rather not use relays if I can help it.

Any other suggestions?
