but i had to laugh they really have to be kidding with that woofer. all that fuss for a 130 db, that was like 10,000 dollars in equipment retail and they achieved only one 130.

You are on your own for the song. It is rediculous about the 130db though, I had a single 12 that did 136.6.

well you know there is a few things abbout it....

They obviously aren't supplying it enough power because the caps are reading out 11 something volts.

But the big one is...130db yes. But, at what frequency?

Well, West Coast Customs is pretty ignorant, from what I've seen on their show. I'm sure they must have screwed something up like you said. Or maybe they just didn't turn it up all the way for safety reasons?

Rookie! (JK) WCC really knows their stuff. They only brought it up to 8,500 watts peak power and some of that goes to the other speakers in there (2 pairs of components from MTX). The JH is capable of 12,000 watts (6,000 RMS) and has a response between 20-150 hz. It also has about 5" (total) of excursion on it, which gives it about 1.8-1.9 cubic ft. of displacement. Your average 15" only displaces .20 - .25 cubic ft. To get the same accoustic effect as the JH, you would need about 7 or 8 15s to match the sound AND accoustic integrity. If anything, We would say they are just playing it safe. Putting the last 4k watts could easily give it another 15 db without even trying to push it. From where the kid has to sit, he is essentially 3 ft from the exhaust of a jumbo jet engine. At that range, many people would actually experience accoustic epilepsy on top of hearing loss (unless they are wearing some good hearing protection). If you watch the video they only pushed it to 100 db- just a little louder than most outdoor concerts. We would say that WCC isn't ignorant, they just don't want to be responsible should anyone suffer anything from their install. We have seen these guys in action personally. They know their stuff. Mad Mike is a frickin total genius when it comes to both electronics and sound control (safety and otherwise). And since Mtv is picking up the tab, the question is more like... "why not?"

What 12 did you use? What was the power setup? and at what range did you measure? We're curious about this one.

.....

Don't sell it short just yet. The caps were for the most part reading 11.8 - .9. It's still within range of everything and that was with the century off.  The century was given an Ohio 200 amp alternator to boot. And although they only show 3 batteries in the clip, there is actually 4 of them, 3 yellow tops and one blue top (added after the filming of the table). To maximize the flow, WCC used nitrogen injected 1/0 guage cabling from batts to speakers. (seriously good stuff... exspensive as hell... We would not be suprised if they spent at least a grand on the cables alone!) It's enough to maintain the system, but the car will have to be running in order to play for extended times. With the car off, it should last for about 3 minutes on the batts and support equipment given.

As for the song... I had one of my friends listen in on it. He thinks it is from the Weapons of Mass Destruction album, but he wasn't 100% sure.
