I was playing mp3 files on my new system but there was alot of distrotion. My installer said it was from poor quality mp3 files from the internet. Where can I get high quality mp3 files???

I use limewire and you can usually get higher bit rate mp3 files if you search for them. Anything 160kbps or above should sound fine.

I always rip at 192kbps, the standard data rate for digital radio in the uk

I rip at 320kbps, but anything 192 and up usually sounds good. 128 sounds pretty bad alot of the time, but sometimes they are perfectly fine. I think it has alot to do with what the person uses to rip it originally becasue ive had high bitrate mp3s that sounded terrible.

I Agree, if you can go for 320 then do, also if given a choice of Codec Choose LAME, and ensure your use CBR (Constant Bit Rate) this will give the best results..

320 is the way to go.
on SQ installs of course CD-Audio is best, but you will notice the difference between 256 and 320 if you know the song very well.
I always rip at 320, take care with iTunes as a default setting is "Filter frequencies below 10Hz" uncheck that, set stereo mode to "Normal", not "Joint Stereo".
you can download 320 kbps mp3's from www.beatport.com, but thats only dance music.
you should be aware that the mp3 heavily compresses the bass sounds, as most people will not listen with subwoofers. 320 kbps is still compressed, but it's very close to the original. Treble is sometimes a bit harsher though compared to the original CD.

320 Bitrate, using LAME and Exact Audio Copy, stuff comes out good.

Use variable rate LossLess Compression. It will compress to the size of 160 bitrates, but sound like 320 bitrate. HOWEVER older MP3 players (2002 and older usually) do not have that compression in them, most do
