I am putting together my system and was able to get a friend's old PPI pcx 5800 but he didn't have a manual and I haven't been able to find one anywhere online. The speakers I would like to hook it up to are a set of CDT HD-52 and a set of Infinity Kappa Perfect 6x9s. I would like to run the kappas at 50W and the CDTs at 100W. Is this possible? Technically its a 5 channel amp but I know its bridgeable and without a manual I do not know what configurations are possible.
thanks a bunch,Brian

What is the RMS power rating for each channel? If it is 100W, then you will be fine, you will just need to adjust your gain VERY carefully for the 50W (desired) channels.
An amplifier, just because it is RATED X watts per channel doesn't HAVE to produce X watts per channel. If you st the gain so that whatever your input voltage is, and the gain (really, and FAR more correctly "Gain Matching Stage" or "Level Matching Stage") is adjusted so that the amplifier will only OUTPUT X/2 watts, then that's all the amp will make - one HALF of the rated output.
I am not saying that you just turn the gain to halfway, and leave it there... You MUST correctly adjust it, so as not to overpower your speakers.
::::EDIT::::
Just found specifications for the amp. No, you can't do what you want to do. The 6 bys will receive 100W, and the CDTs will receive 50 watts.
The specifiactions are 50W by 4 @ 4 ohms, and 100W by 4 @ 2 ohms.
You cannot get where you are trying to go, with this amplifier.
------------- It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing the 50W will leave my CDTs feeling a little underwhelmed. I suppose I can just go with it for now and save up for a 150W Alpine, one of the new stackable kind. The infinitys can take 100W RMS I believe so with some care it could work.
On the sub channel of the PPI there is a source button that says up for single, down for sum, any guess what this means? This is why I was originally hoping I could drive the sub power to one of the other channels or vice versa.

Also, forgive me haemphyst, but your name sounds familiar. Are you the guy I spoke with down in SLO about my Nissan Altima?
