being a newbie n all, i ain't heard much to compare with.

Just thinking though, Kicker and JL Audio make pretty damn expensive subs, reflected in watts. But is the bass as crisp and clear as other less expensive subs? It must depend alot on the amp powering it, but ive read mono block amps don't give out that crisp quality bass?

With a Grand to spend, im divided on a pair of Infinity Kappa perfects in seperate Bandpass and Sealed enclosures,  powered by a Cerwin Vega 3204 - not sure.

OR mono sub and amp,      ?    sugestions? cheers

I have found out that the sub itself isnt as important as the enclosure and the amp. I can put a couple $50 mtx subs in a good box, wire them up just right, tweak a good amp, and get better sound than $500 subs. I would start by getting a good amp, crossover, and head unit, then figure out how much space you have and what kind of box you want that will fit in your car, then you can go by that space to see what sub is best.

Yeah that seems pretty wise.

When buying amp, is it recomended that the Amp be under powered to the sub or sub to amp or matching wattage? Over powering the subs would be just as bad as under powering them i would have thought?

WOuld the difference in wattage matter alot with the quality of sub build, or are they all built to take the watt there quoted stats say?
