I have an Alpine CDA-9833 XM ready head unit and recently purchased an Audiovox XMDirect2 (CMP2000UC) XM radio adaptor. Before installation the adaptor must have the proper radio model download. The program is downloaded from the Audiovox website and must be selected from a list of Alpine model numbers. Well the CDA-9833 is not on that list. The closet model number is CDA-9853. I called Audiovox and the technician told me that that model had not been tested yet and all he could tell me is that it would not work. I feel he was telling me was the company line was that it would not work but it could possibly work but has not been tested for that model yet. Has anyone had any experience with this set up? Does anyone know if the CDA-9853 download will work with the CDA-9833?
Thanks,

I can't see how one AI Net Alpine would be different than another. I've already used this tuner with an IVA-D205 which wasn't on the list and it worked fine. Lots of gliches with this little suckers so far. Some won't program, some lose their programing, some freeze up and some make high pitched whining noise. Some far I've had about 50% failure rate.

There is no such thing as free installation!
A new XMDIERCT2 1.4 firmware was released on 5-Jan-08 that supports CDA-8933. Good luck in getting it to work (the firmware release for my CDA-9884 did not).
