I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 pickup and a friend of mine gave me two 1200W subs, and a sony xplod 1200W 2/1 channel amp, model XM-2200GTX. I went out and bought the sony Xplod CDX-GT320 head unit and i plan on having circuit city install the head unit. I do not know what size or what kind of wiring kit to purchace for the amp/subs and i dont know what settings to put the amplifier at etc i would greatly appreciate any help i can possibly get. Thanks

A 12 gauge speaker wire would be plenty... That amp will make nowhere NEAR 1200 watts. I'd say, more like 200 watts, in a real world situation.
IF, however, you believe the 1200 watt rating, then a #8 wiring kit would be adequate.

thanks, yes i know that sony is not the best but they were givin to me so why not use it right!! what about the settings on the amp? im new to this and i know nothing...

Set the amp to low pass filter. Set the frequenzy to no more than 120 HZ (that might be alittle high). Turn your gain (level) knob down to minimal to start. Have everything powered up and music playing. Then slowly turn your gain knob up until you start to hear distortion from the subs. Then back the gain down just a hair and thats it. You also might need to turn your Hz down alittle.

okay so ive been reading around all day now and i have learned quite a bit about everything. I do still have a few misunderstandings. Im not sure how to hook up my amp to my head unit. I get the RCA cables but i dont know what to do with the REM wire. Also i dont know how i am supposed to ground it and set up my amp to the battery. Sorry for the stupid questions but im just trying to figure out how to do everything on my own so i can impove my system later on.
