Does anyone know what the best speakers are to replace the factory 2-1/2" speakers in a 2002 Yukon? There are four speakers - two in the front door and two in the back on the sides of the hatch. I can't find replacement 2-1/2" tweeters so what would be my best option? Thanks

You probably won't find 2 1/2" tweeters. What I would do is get a component set ( either 5 1/4" or 6 1/2 " ) and then make a PVCor MDF trim plate & cut out the size of the tweeter from the component set for the OEM tweeters.

Thanks for the fast reply Jeff. I was thinking I had to do something extreme to get these mounted but your idea is way better. What is the thinnest piece of MDF one can buy? Does it come as thin as door skin?

You can get 1/4" MDF but you don't really need anything thick. Try Masonite particle board, and this comes in thicknesses of under 1/8" . Any type of board will work because the area is so small it will be strong enough to house the tweeters regardless of thickness. You will probably only need 4 peices about 3" x 3" at the max.

Anyone with this same problem in a Yukon, Tahoe, Suburban, Escalade here is a good fix.
OK; Here is my final solution. I used 1/8" hard wood. I took one of the factory speakers from its casing and traced around it onto the board a few times (6). I then traced the diameter of the new tweeter mount in the middle of the factory speaker template I made. I used a dremel tool with a guide and wood bit to cut the tweeter mount tracing first then the outer template from board. Now I had a piece of wood the exact size and shape of the factory speaker with a hole for the tweeter mount cut out. This was perfect because the factory speaker was held in place by a plastic snap so I was able to use the same mount point for my new Infinity Kappa tweeters. Thanks for the idea Jeff.
