I just installed a factory GM headunit in a 2003 GMC Sierra that came from a 2001 S-10 Pickup. The radio has been "married" to the VIN of the newer truck and works fine. The radio illumination does not work at all. Is this controlled by the BCM? Can it be overridden?

I noticed that on wiring diagrams here for 2003+ Sierra/Silverados that there is no wire for illumination but for the 2000+ S-10's there is a illumination wire.

Anyone ever dealt with this situation before? Thank you.

Somethings not right here. 03+ chevy full size trucks use a class II data bus system where the radio is turned on via a data wire. The S-10 however does not use this. Did you run an accy wire?

No; I haven't run any accessory wiring since I assumed it was all in the two connectors.  Maybe I can find out which pin on the connector was supposed to have controlled illumination and patch that over to the parking lights circuit.
