what amp to buy? better box?

i have two JL audio 12w3v3's 4 ohm versions.
They are in a sealed box with 1.5 cu ft per sub.

my question is would a JL 500/1 amp be a good match for these.
This is what i have my eyes set on, but if there was an amplifier which would suit them better i am open to suggestions.

i would also like others opinions on what kind of box i should use.
should i go ported or sealed? what cu ft?

the 500/1 is an awesome amp...I used to have one. Loved it. Plenty of power for those.

The most important part of a sub system is the enclosure though.

That amp would be perfect for those subs. As far as a sealed or ported, all depends. Sealed will give you a cleaner tighter bass. Ported will be louder but not as accurate, nothing unbareable.

i am thinking that i will build the box to the manufacturer's specs.

i am also curious to see how they would perform in a bandpass box as opposed to the ported box?

If you have no experience designing bandpass boxes I wouldn't recommend it.
