2001 kia optima, sony cd/radio?

I am attempting to install a sony cd/radio and have almost all wires connected to what seems ok with the exception of two grey wires....I can't get sound. Can someone help guide me thru completeing this?

Did you buy the 15 dollar harness from your local stereo shop?

No I did not.... I have no idea what a "harness" is?

Since you say you have no sound, I would have to assume that the radio is coming on.  If this is the case you need to get another speaker, a home speaker or a spare car speaker, either will do just fine.  Connect this new speaker to one set of speaker wires of the radio.  If this speaker does not play, you have either a bad output chip in your radio, or you have a grounded speaker wire and the output chip is in protection.
