Ok, I am about ready to install some subs into my truck, so this will be my first install by myself. I keep seeing a ton of different so called "Amp Kits" what claim to have all the wires, fuses, etc needed to complete an install. Well I don't even know what is needed, so I can't verify for myself that the packages are telling the truth.
So I guess my question is what exactly will I need to hook up my subs, amp and cap? Like how many wires, what size, etc. Is there a place I can read all this, or can somebody here tell me what I need.

My setup includes, 2 15" JBL GTO 4ohm subs, a one farad cap, and I don't know which amp of mine to use, I have a Rockford Fosgate 1501bd, and a Rockford Fosgate bd1500.1 I don't know what the difference is between those amps. So if anyone can help me out, so I don't fry anything, that would be great. Thanks

You've been a member of this forum for awhile but apparently don't read much of the threads and site info in general?  It sounds like you should start with something like Crutchfield's basic tutorials and then graduate up to the 12volt site information.  After that, you should start reading through the car audio threads.  Your post count should be a "1" with the types of questions you are asking here:  what size wires to choose, what is needed for an installation, how to choose amplifier for subs, etc.

IIRC, i looked at the manuals for those two amps before and they looked like the same amp, maybe different year models.  Study the manuals and you will see if there are any differences.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

i guess both amps are the same. also if you r just wiring in subs purchase a wiring kit that has the following

4 gauge power cable wire (12v)- 25 feet min, more will be best.
4 gauge power wire (ground) - 5 - 10 feet will do
16 or 18 gauge remote wire - 20 feet min more wont hurt
1 fused distribution block
1 inline fuse AGP or ANL Blade fused @ 80 amps
1 set of RCA cables

wiring diagrams shoule be avail acorss the net. watch the crutchfield amp install videos and yea learn then proceed.
