hey, just need help deciding which is better. I have the option of picking up either amp for the cost of nothing, since my friend does owe me. the two amps are:

1) Audiobahn A8002T

  • 200 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
  • 400 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms
  • 800 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms

2) MTX 81000D

2 Ohm Load 1000 w x 1 Low Level
4 Ohm Load 500 w x 1

any input as which throws more power and which is better for the long run? i have a p3 sub and an orion XTR that i dont use so im just gonna use those.

I can vouch for the fact that the Audiobahn amp won't do rated power; I have an A8000T which is supposed to do 800w rms x1 at 2ohms. I am running it at 2 omhs now, and my car hit harder when I had a DHD NTX 2009 powering my subs(did about 250w x 2).

The audiobahn sucks IMHO...

we used to carry the audiobahn stuff and it does not meet the rated power output that they got on the box, that mtx amp is going to be far better than the audiobahn one. for the most part the hifonics stuff is far cheaper than the mtx line of amps. i have used all three brands and installed them in a lot of different vehicles and boats, and in the end the best bang for your buck if you just want bass is the hifonics stuff, mainly the brutus line of amps like the 1206 or 1606. 900 watts rms @ 2ohm for the 1206 for about $280 bucks and the 1606 is 1100 watts rms @ 2 ohm for  $319.

i have 2 mtx amps in my car a 8100d an 1501d wich are both the same amps.  They are very good amps. mtx usually under rates their amps so they usually put out more power then they list. It isnt the cleanest power but its by no means dirty. I would definately go with the mtx. as a matter of fact i would take the mtx amp over a lot of other amps out their but i am kinda bias on my opinion. If you have any questions about that amp post it an i will try to help as best as i can

1 12" mtx 9500 4ohm dvc 1 8100d and 1 1501d almost loud enough to cover the sounds of my car dying.
