Hi all, this is my first time posting in this forum but over the past couple of weeks i have been doing a ton of research here. I am putting together a system on a budget and have been ordering piece by piece, a lot of which has been based strictly on (what seems to be) a knowledgeable group of folks here.

I ordered the infinity reference series 6022i for up front (I did go listen to these first though), and I ordered the Hifonics BXi 1606D amp for my subs, that I have not purchased yet. Ive heard good things about Hifonics when it comes to "bang for your buck" but I had not heard much specifically about their 2 channel amps, I was looking at the Hifonics Titan TXi 4006 (around 100 bucks) to power my 2 front speakers, does anyone have any experience with this amp or know anyone who does?

Also, I am trying to stay between 400 and 500 dollars on 2 subs, I have heard pretty good things about the kicker L7 series, so right now thats probably what I'll go with. However if anyone has any input as to what might be better for the money I'm all ears. Thanks

BTW, I plan on building a vented box to specs of the manufacturer any tips on tuning?

Hmm.  You should go with a 4-channel amplifier and either only use two channels on it or bridge it - 2-channel amps are of limited utility and cost as much as 4-channel brethern, so I would recommend something with a bit more wiring flexability.

I wouldn't use HiFonics myself, but lotsa folks do with serviceable results - these are amps are certainly 'bang for the buck.'

This is ample budget - you could get some very nice woofers for this price - IMO sumthin a bit more refined than L7's - but these are certainly popular woofers.
What sort of space are you working with?

Are you looking at 10's or 12's or what?

2 12's, I have a 2001 chevy tahoe, i have the 3rd row seat but its coming out, so i should have some space. Im looking for a good balance between spl and sq, but i definitely want it to have some thump. The idea is to built a ported box for the subs, my only problem with the box is i havent quite figured out internally if it should have like seperating boards or something or should it just be 2 subs in a big open box with a tuned port? any insight on that would also be greatly appreciated.

p.s. one more quick question, i just got my infinity rederence 6022i's in the mail today, and theres a tiny button on the tweeter for +3dbs should i leave that pressed in, or depressed? thx in advance.

Huh.  Another thread I've talking to a guy about today - he likes these Shiva 12's - I don't think they're a good pick for his car, but in a Tahoe, these might be ideal:

Very popular around this board lately.  With the space you are able to utilize, I think you could do something really competetive with these.

That HiFonics looks like it would do okay running them I guess.

Oh yea -

I would leave that button on the Infinity's alone - Reference speakers are perennially screechy and bright.

I'm pretty sure the button next to the tweeters is for attenuation/cut (-3dB), not boost (+3dB). At least, I think.
