whats up ppl...i installed a kicker 5ch amp that just got back from service, in a car previously wired and installed by a mom and pop shop, and the job was sloppy. (wires everywhere)anyway, the kid took his system out for space, put it back, and he hooked up the pos and neg wires backwards, blowing every fuse and shorting the amp out. he sent it back to kicker and asked me to reinstall it when it came back, i hooked up power grnd and remote, wired in one channel, and as i was hooking up channel 2, it sounded like it grounded out, the amp went into protect mode again, and wont come out of it. i immediately removed the speaker wire that did this. all of the fuses were good, i checked them for continuity. i traced the wire back, and it was directly to the rear speaker. it appeared the pos and neg terminals were both touching the rear deck. would this short the amp and put it in protect mode, or would it just blow the channel, or both? was it a mistake from kicker when they serviced the amp?

Yes, that will kill the amp.  Best case, it goes into protect, worst case it fries the channel.  No, it is not Kicker's fault, it is a bad installation.

should have checked to see if there was an issue that caused the amp to mess up in the first place. It will have to be fixed again. Shorted out terminal will kill output or put amp into protection mode. It must have cooked something.

The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.
Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya

the kid tried to reinstall his amp before had the pos and neg power wires reversed, causing the amp to fry in the first place.
