Is there any advantage with adding an equalizer to your system if you already have one built into your head unit? Thanks in advance for the info.

That all depends on you and your system. If the processing power in the HU is sufficient for what you want to, or have the ability to tune, then I couldn't see any advantage in adding more adjustability.

But if you need more versatility then adding an external EQ could be beneficial, such as if your headunit EQ will only allow you to adjust the front and rear as a whole, and you have a 3-way system, you may need an external EQ that will allow you to adjust each driver independantly.

Also, keep in mind that introducing another piece of hardware in the signal chain increases the possibility of noise.

Oh, and post up your system components and what you're trying to do and maybe we can offer more advice.
