kicker vs polk vs eclipse speakers

Hello everyone. I'm looking to upgrade my speaker setup, and I wanted some opinions before I make any decision.

I'm looking for a comparison between Kicker RS, Polk MOMO, and Eclipse SC 3-Way series. Looking for 2 sets of speakers. Both 6.5" and both component systems.

I currently have 2 pairs of 6.5" component Alpine DDDrive Series. I also have 2 MTX 8500 subs, 1 MTX 1501D, and 1 MTX TE604.

I've got plenty of bass, and the speakers still sound great after 3 years, I'm just lookin for an upgrade. I am not looking for a loudest, although I do want it loud, but I am going more for SQ than SPL.

I'm kind of going more for the Polk or the Eclipse, but I'm open to suggestions. Also these speakers are going to go into a 2003 Infiniti G35 sedan

BTW - These are the only brands I'm really interested in, because I get crazy accommodations from my company.

Then why can't you listen to them and make a choice?  Hearing differs from person to person.

I fully agree with stevdart, but I am assuming that you work for Circuit City, correct? That means you can't hear them until you get them, at least, for those particular series of speakers.

GENERALLY speaking, the differences between the speakers will be more pronounced in some types of music and next to near untracable (sp?) for others. From my experience, I find that consistantly Eclipse gives the best SQ for most of the frequency bands, Kickers tend to give stronger and cleaner higher notes, and Momos will give the strongest output. Considering the equipment and amps you already have, I would actually lean more towards the Kickers as my first choice with Eclipse being a VERY close second. Momos are good but depending on tuning, music selections, hearing tastes, installation, etc., My opinion is only that.... opinion. Personally, I am a fan of the Eclipse units, but I like kicker too. Momos are great as well, but for my music (orchestration mixes and J-music) I prefer the sound of the Eclipses.

Thanks for the replies. You are correcy I do work for circuit city. I was the senior salesman for the mobile department, now I am a pc tech  for Firedog.

As far as music selection, I listen to everything from rap, to metal, to rock, to techno/house. I do not listen to classical or country. If this helps.

I was personally leaning either toward the Kickers or the Eclipses. For anyone who has heard these brands speakers, specifically models I listed...how comparable are the Kicker RS to the KS? And the Eclipse SC to the SE?

I thought so... hehe... Kickers give such great accomodations to the employees... you should have seen the MTX sale that ended in october last year 75% and up off on ALL their stuff.

Let's start with the Kickers... The RS series have a HUGE power handling boost and can take on a massive amount of power RMS (100w,200w peak) vs KS (75/150) The RS also have a much cleaner note above 80Hz vs the KS. Essentially, you get what you pay for (retail at least, hehe)

Eclipse: The SE and SC series are both engineered around one principle. SQ The overall output is lower than the Kickers, but again for most of the bandwidths, they are VERY precise and super clean. The major difference will be that the SC systems are all component sets where the SE is integrated (not coaxial or triaxial) The SC system will allow for better placements of the various components to maximize sq as well as a major boost in power handling (40rms vs 100 rms)

Considering the music you listen to, I would look at the Kickers as your first choice. Eclipse is great stuff too but you will benefit a bit more from the Kickers. Considering your amp and everything, just go with the RS setups. You'll fill in your mids and have well pronounced highs to go with the rest of your sound system.

You didn't mention what your head unit is or exactly how the system is being used. If you are doing SQ competitions, go for the eclipse, otherwise kickers.

To make the most out of your amps, consider a 6-channel line driver unless you are already using either a pioneer dehp4900 or better or any of the eclipse head units (assuming you got your HU at work). You'll maximize your amps and clean up the system a bit that way.
