I just got a Hifonics ZXi 4006 amp and an alpine type S sub. I was wondering if i should get 4 gauge wiring or if my already installed 8 gauge will work? Also what size in line fuse should i run?

Go to 4 gauge.  Give the 8 ga. to someone doing his first starter install.  Fuse 4 ga. wire with up to 150 amp fuse, near the battery.

Actually, 8 ga. would be fine for that if it's all your running.  But don't you want to upgrade it, just on principle alone?

Also, look at the tremendous help section over to the left, starting with https://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp
