Which do you think gets louder with the most sound quality 12" Alpine type R vs 12" Kicker L5. I think its a very tough decision, so I have brought the argument to the experienced pplez on 12 Vo|T!
I insist that the Alpine Type R is a SQL subwoofer but my friend insists that the kickers get louder and hit lows better as they have more surface area.

I believe the type R will sound better and hit better. I have heard both and I really like Alpine Type R's

The Type R is just a better looking woofer. Kicker makes ugly gear.

The type-r is made for a ported box, get a box properly made for it and it will sound good while still knock your socks off. The L5 will sound like a loud fart compared to the type-r.

Times 50. DEFINITELY, if looking for anything resembling SQ, stick with the Alpine, although the Type R isn't where I'd go for real SQ...
That's just me.
------------- It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

want the truth? either one can perform great or sound like a moped with a bad muffler .it all depends on the box / install

the setups are install dependent...I like the sound of the R's better than the L5's though.
Also I was pretty impressed that a 12 inch Type R could take a 10, 20, and 30Hz tone for a 3 minutes straight on a 1200 watt rms amp free airing basically.
