I have almost gotten all the pieces for my new system and am soon going to be building a box for my 2 subs, they are kicker l7 12's 4 ohm dvc. The amp im using is a hifonics bxi1606d and I have been planning on using a vented box from the start and have been calculating and recalculating trying to get the perfect specifications and i think ive got it, but thats another topic altogether.

My question is, with the 1600watts rms power of the hifonics(i know its probably a bit less) and 2 kicker l7 12's will a vented box really make that big of a difference? im concerned about damaging the speaker with too much power in a vented, and also im worried i might do all this work to build my "perfect" vented box and it not sound right, for the novice(that does his homework) would a sealed box be ok? or would a vented box be worth all the extra work.

p.s. I want the bass to be loud, but im not competing or anything, and i dont want it to be too loose.

a sealed box will work but in general ppl seem to say a vented/ported box is almost twice as loud as the same subs in a sealed enclosure.

If its your first time building a box find some plans and follow them exactly.  https://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported-box.asp?Ew=48&Eh=14&Dia=6&Xmax=12&Vd=0.1&NumW=2&Vb=4&Fb=33.7&Qts=&Vas=&Fs=&CE=0 this is a good site that should help you out a bit if you dont know where to start also if you want one built for you that is custom and looks great contact Thumpper at  Poundthatsound.com he does awesome work and there are pics of some of the boxes he has built.

For the l7 I would build a 4cf per sub vented and tuned to 32hz and they will slam very hard

Yea a vented box is definately worth the extra work.  I've never met a properly designed ported enclosure I've liked less than any given sealed configuration.

Try WinISD alpha- you can input the T/S parameters and it will calculate excursion - what you need to worry about in terms of vented enclosure power handling.

Figure out what size enclosure you need to keep excursion a few mm below maximum xmech.
