hissing via speakers, heavier on one

I have a 2002 Honda Accord LX- I installed a new set of speakers, low end-ish speakers to replace a distorted one, and i may have touched the leads to the metal of the car. I was messing with my equalizer on my pioneer DEH-P440 head unit, and turned it up retardedly loud. The next day I noticed that I was getting a hiss that was brutally loud in some heavy metal songs, nonexistant in some good ole dave matthews band songs, and just there in some rock songs. .   It's loudest in my passenger side, the side i accidently touched the leads to the metal.

I was told several things; My wiring for the speakers may need to be replaced- ouch for money.

A fuse/something may be blown/damaged within the headunit in response to my retardism, double ouch,

or my speakers are all toast. All six of em. (Doubtful, since I connected them to a different set of new speakers. . still got same low screech/hiss.

It does not change if the car is off/on or traveling at high/low speeds. The hiss follows the volume of the songs.

My friend says he can barely hear it, but i must be sensitive to it. . because i can't ignore it, it gives me a painful headache. .   I really need some advice on what you guys think i should do, seeing as many of you have (hopefully not,) probably have done this or know someone that has. Anything would help. :)

i have the same problem but when it happens its on my rear speaker so i know its not all your wiring . on my system the subs/front/rear have their own amp i unplugged the rca and it complety stopped most likely the metal part of the speaker is touching the cars frame and some how you have to stop it, i thought electric tape or double sided tape. im going to try something and let you know the results

The paint on the metal of the door has been scuffed a little bit, leaving some spots of bare metal. I think i'll try covering stuff up with electrical tape to see if it helps. If not, then it's either my wires or my deck. Will keep posting.

I tried electric tape and it worked a little bit. I heard it coming in and out. But if my subs hit it would get worse. So I unplugped the wire for one of my rear speakers taped it off and I got the same thing. At this point both rear speakers has electric tape along the metal housing. I took out the speaker and bench tested in the car but not in the housing and I got a little hissing but when I un plugged it (speaker wire at speaker) I got a little humming and when I placed it back . The radio was off when I did this. So I'm assuming my rear speakers are blown.when it get this loud noise I release me face and it does till my antenna goes down. So I'm going to try new rear speakers and redo my rear wiring and have that play on with the others disconnected to see if I can toubleshoot further

I was told that when I adjusted the SLA ( it like trippled my volume momentarily to window shattering levels) that i may have damaged the amp /components within the deck. . ive got electrical tape everywhere in my car, and I switched out speakers, so I know it isn't those... will keep posting

Me and honda76574 are kinda on the same boat but I think I blew my rear speakers. He stated that he blew is internal amp and I don't use my internal amp I have that function were u can turn it off. I have my amps hooked on preouts is it still possible to blow it

Yeah I'm postive its my rear speakers I unplugged my rcas last night then this afternoon I didn't change non of my wiring and both speakers worked. But prior to me to this yesterday afternoon my right speaker wouldnt work but now it does. Is it possbile for the voice coils in the speaker to get so hot that the speaker stops working or to emitt that horible sound

Do you have a known good speaker available for testing?  It can be a home stereo speaker, a detachable jambox speaker.  WITH YOUR RADIO TURNED OFF this time, disconnect the bad speaker, run those wires to the known good speaker.  Insulate the connections, turn the radio on and listen to that speaker.  How does it sound?

I know ibut I haven't took them out for testing yet at first they used to play for a while at low levels and mid level when I turn them up that's when it happens. Today I kept the radio at a low level and it did it right away. So I'm going to test the 6x9 but 9 times out of 10 it needs to be replaced
