Starting to get the things together for my brother-in-laws stereo build but I am having trouble finding a hi amp alternator for it all I can find are 70amp one that won't make his amps very happy he is looking at running close to 2000 wats most likely eclipse amps.

He has a 1990 Mercedes 420 sel I know that someone has to have a good place to order one of these. Thanks

You could look into having a stock alt rewound - lotsa shops do this.

Beware however - rewound alts change the power band of the alternator and they tend to make very low voltage at idle engine speeds.

This is a real tough problem.

Try getting in touch with this guy:

Yea that is why I have not even considered the rewind that is a last resort, or just using a lot of bandaids. (caps)posted_image

Thanks for the other link.

Yikes!

I think I head somethin about the12volt editing out ebay links - funny - I thought Iraggi was a respected rebuilder around here.

I dunno - search for "Iraggi alternators" at a google search prompt for the right link.

Anyway - caps prolly won't help ya - try paralleling deep cycle batteries - kinetiks or optima's - you have a few other options.

Have you tried Ohio Generator. If you give them a call, if they dont have one for your car, they may work with you about getting one made.
