led toggle switch/power antennae

Here's the deal. My head unit has a single lead for both amp turn on and power antennae. I don't like the antennae up all the time so I decided to use an LED toggle switch to activate it. I ran a Y split from the head unit power lead, ran one leg to the amps, ran one to the toggle, and from the toggle to the antennae lead.

Initially, I had the ground connected from the toggle to same point as the head unit. This didn't work. I removed the ground from the toggle and everything worked but the LED in the toggle wouldn't illuminate. Any ideas on how to make the LED light up? Seems frivolous, but I want it to light up.

Hmm, lemme see if I understand what you are saying. Currently the toggle has 3 spots on it, and you have the power hooked on side and the antenna wire on the other but the LED inside the toggle switch doesn't light up?
-If I understood u correctly then what needs to happen is hook a negative to the middle terminal on the toggle, which should give the led a positive and a negative thus giving it light .

Thanks for the info. Oddly enough, I went out and reconnected the ground to where I had it before, and it all worked.

The connection is as such, the blue wire from the head unit harness, power antennae/amp turn on, is Y split into two leads. One leg of the Y goes to the amplifier turn on. The other leg goes to the power supply terminal of the toggle switch. The wire to the power antennae is connected to the accessory terminal of the toggle switch. The ground terminal of the toggle switch is wired, with its own wire, to the same location as the head unit.

It seems as though, if at all possible, when I turned on the head unit for the first time it didn't 'register' the wiring set up. I disconnected the ground from the back of the toggle switch and everything worked as intended, except for the LED light.

I reconnected the ground after this and all worked as intended. The    LED needs the ground to complete the circuit, I knew this, but didn't understand why it wasn't working in the first place. Oh well, all is good now. Too many words for such a small problem. Maybe it will help someone else though.
